Inspector General


Jeffrey Rush Jr. was sworn in as Inspector General of the Department of the Treasury on July 30, 1999.

Mr. Rush served as Inspector General at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) from September 4, 1994 until July 30, 1999. USAID is the government agency that administers economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide. Prior to joining USAID, Mr. Rush was Acting Inspector General of the Peace Corp from February 1993 until March 1994.

Mr. Rush served for 23 years in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). From 1983 to 1994, Mr. Rush served as Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Investigations. He served from 1980 to 1983 as Regional Inspector General for Investigations (Chicago, Illinois). From 1978 to 1980, Mr. Rush served as Assistant Regional Inspector General for Investigations (Chicago, Illinois). He served from 1975 to 1978 as Supervisory Criminal Investigator (Kansas City, Missouri), and from 1971 to 1975, as Criminal Investigator (Hyattsville, Maryland).

Mr. Rush served with the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971, as a Counterintelligence Specialist.

Born in Kansas City, Kansas, Mr. Rush has a Bachelor's degree from Baker University and a Juris Doctor degree from George Mason University School of Law. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar Association and American Bar Association.
