Text of a Letter from the President to the Speaker and the Democratic Leader of the House of Respresentatives

Citing the critical priority of maintaining the full faith and credit of the United States Government, President Bush - in a letter to House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and Minority Leader Richard A. Gephardt - appealed to House leaders yesterday to raise the ceiling on the national debt.
